Open Reach is an original ink drawing of a tree in London Fields, Hackney, drawn directly onto a hand-cast cement tile by Birmingham artist Warren Garland (Warren Drawing Trees).
The tree is all vertical lift and quiet openness — fine branches extending upward in measured, deliberate lines, the structure feeling light yet assured. There is space within the form itself, an openness that gives the piece clarity and restraint. London Fields is one of Hackney’s most characterful open spaces, and this tree was drawn there on location, in the way the park’s particular urban energy demands: attentively, with time.
Part of an ongoing body of tree studies made on location across Birmingham and London, this is a one-of-a-kind original — not a print or reproduction. Drawn directly onto hand-cast cement tile using archival black ink, the natural tonal shifts and surface variations of the cement remain visible, ensuring no two tiles are identical.
Framed in a bespoke wooden frame and presented in a custom box, it is ready to collect or give.
