What is a Giclée Print
What is a Giclée Print?
If you’ve come across the word “giclée” and wondered what it actually means, you’re not alone. It simply refers to a high-quality fine art printing process.
A giclée print is produced using archival pigment inks and professional fine art papers. Unlike standard digital prints, which often use dye-based inks, pigment inks are designed to last. They produce deeper blacks, more subtle tonal shifts and a greater level of detail.
For my tree drawings, those details matter. The weight of a line, the softness of graphite, the quiet space around the form — all of it needs to feel intact. Giclée printing allows the character of the original drawing to be reproduced faithfully, without losing clarity or depth.
Each limited edition print is produced using archival materials and printed on carefully selected fine art paper. When framed and cared for properly, a giclée print can last for decades without noticeable fading.
In short, it’s the closest reproduction to the original drawing — without compromising on quality.
