Compact Tree is an original ink drawing of a tree in Greenwich Park, London, drawn directly onto a hand-cast cement tile by Birmingham artist Warren Garland (Warren Drawing Trees).
The tree is quietly upright and self-contained — a rounded canopy and narrow trunk creating a balanced, assured silhouette. It doesn’t demand attention, yet holds it. Greenwich Park is one of London’s oldest Royal Parks, its ancient sweet chestnuts and hillside views making it one of the most distinctive green spaces in the city, and this tree was drawn there on location, observed with time and attention.
Part of an ongoing body of tree studies made on location across Birmingham and London, this is a one-of-a-kind original — not a print or reproduction. Drawn directly onto hand-cast cement tile using archival black ink, the natural tonal shifts and surface variations of the cement remain visible, ensuring no two tiles are identical.
Framed in a bespoke natural wood frame and presented in a custom box, it is ready to collect or give.
