The Leaning Tree is an original ink drawing of a windswept tree in Aberdeen, drawn directly onto a hand-cast cement tile by Birmingham artist Warren Garland.
Shaped by years of coastal wind rather than design, this tree leans because that is how it learned to survive. There is nothing forced or carefully arranged about its form. Instead, it speaks of resilience, adapting to the landscape season after season. It reminds us that strength is often found not in standing perfectly upright, but in responding honestly to the world around us.
Drawn from observation, this piece reflects an ongoing fascination with the character of individual trees and the stories held within their forms. It is a quiet study of endurance, patience and belonging.
Part of an ongoing body of urban and rural tree studies made on location across the UK, this is a one-of-a-kind original—not a print or reproduction. Drawn directly onto a hand-cast cement tile using archival black ink, the natural texture and subtle colour variations of the cement remain visible, ensuring every piece is completely unique.
Framed in a bespoke wooden frame and presented in a custom presentation box, it is ready to display, collect or give as a gift.
