Croome Court Pine – Framed Original Handmade Cyanotype

An original handmade cyanotype inspired by a mature pine tree standing within the historic grounds of Croome Court in Worcestershire.

This artwork began as a reference photograph taken during one of my walks. I regularly photograph trees while exploring parks, woodlands and historic landscapes as visual references for future drawings. Occasionally, an image feels complete in its own right and becomes a cyanotype.

Standing alone against an open sky, this pine caught my attention for its distinctive silhouette and balanced form. The traditional cyanotype process transforms the original photograph into a one-of-a-kind artwork, where rich Prussian blue tones and hand-coated textures reflect both the character of the tree and the handmade nature of the process.

Each cyanotype is individually hand-coated, exposed using a UV light source and carefully developed by hand. Brush marks, soft edges and subtle tonal variations ensure every artwork is completely unique.
