This tree stands in the gardens of Birtsmorton Court, a medieval manor house set against the Malvern Hills. Once proud and commanding, the oak now shows the weight of time — its upper trunk cut back, its strength redirected into a few reaching branches. Ivy climbs and wraps around its core, not overwhelming it, but becoming part of its story.

Drawn slowly and observed closely, the piece captures resilience rather than perfection. The rough bark, the dense inked trunk, and the delicate new growth create a quiet tension between endurance and renewal.
