Athens Museum Tree is a limited edition A4 giclée print taken from an original ink drawing by UK artist Warren Garland.
This tree stands quietly at the back of the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, half-hidden among stone, history and stories thousands of years old. Compared to the grand marble sculptures inside, it feels almost accidental – hacked, weathered, stubbornly alive.
I’m still not entirely sure what species it is. Even my tree identification app seemed unsure. What struck me more than its name was its shape: a long, textured trunk rising into an unruly crown, as if shaped by wind, pruning and time in equal measure.
Athens has some of the most remarkable street trees I’ve seen – resilient, sculptural, full of character. This one felt like a quiet counterpoint to the museum itself: living history beside ancient history.
Printed on archival paper using high-quality giclée printing methods. Each print is hand-signed and numbered as part of a limited edition.
