Branching Out – Original Ink Drawing on Cement Tile

A fine-line ink drawing of a tree, hand-drawn directly onto a hand made cement tile. The branches spread wide, breaking the upright form with a scatter of leaves, while the trunk holds steady and rooted.

This piece is part of my ongoing series exploring the contrast between delicate pen work and the industrial surface of cement tiles. The process leaves small imperfections in the stone — tiny chips, surface marks, and colour shifts — which give each tile its own character and presence.

Drawn freehand from life and memory, this tree is less about botanical accuracy and more about mood: a quiet, rooted pause, captured in solid weight and fragile line.
