Birts Court Ivy Oak – Positive Cyanotype Print (A4)

This is the positive cyanotype version of the Birts Court Ivy Oak — where the image is reversed from its original negative print. The skeletal winter tree and clinging ivy now stand in deep blue on a soft white field, giving the image a quiet strength and clarity.

The drawing was originally made at Birts Court, just as winter had stripped the tree bare, revealing its twisted shape and dense tangle of ivy. In cyanotype, the print takes on an archival, almost botanical quality — part field sketch, part fossil.

Each print is made by hand using traditional cyanotype printing techniques — exposed in sunlight, then developed in water — with soft tonal textures that make each one unique.
