This quietly defiant tree lives just inside the entrance to Birts Court, a medieval manor house turned wedding venue nestled in the Malvern Hills. Once a proud English oak, it now stands stripped back, ivy-wrapped, and slightly wonky—but somehow still full of quiet purpose. It reminded me a bit of someone getting their groove back in midlife.
Printed by hand using the cyanotype process, this rich Prussian blue print captures the skeletal strength of the oak’s branches and the soft encroachment of ivy. Each piece is made slowly and individually, embracing the brushstrokes, textures, and unpredictability that come with the process.
A print for anyone who’s battled through a bit and still found a way to grow something.
