An original hand-printed cyanotype of an ivy-wrapped oak tree at Birts Court, a medieval manor house nestled in the Malvern Hills, Worcestershire, by Birmingham artist Warren Garland (Warren Drawing Trees).
Once a proud English oak, it now stands stripped back, ivy-wrapped, and slightly wonky — but somehow still full of quiet purpose. It lives just inside the entrance to Birts Court, a medieval manor house turned wedding venue in the Malvern Hills. The cyanotype process suits it perfectly — the rich Prussian blue capturing the skeletal strength of the oak’s branches and the soft encroachment of the ivy, white silhouettes emerging from the deep blue ground.
A print for anyone who’s battled through a bit and still found a way to grow something.
Made using traditional cyanotype techniques, printed by hand onto heavyweight 300gsm watercolour paper. Each piece is made slowly and individually, embracing the brushstrokes, textures, and unpredictability that come with the process. One-of-a-kind.
