Barber Institute Tree is a framed limited edition A4 giclée print created from an original ink drawing of a tree standing beside the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, Birmingham, by Birmingham artist Warren Garland (Warren Drawing Trees).
The Barber Institute is one of the first purpose-built arts venues in the country, its 1930s Travertine marble architecture carrying a particular weight and elegance. The tree leans heavily to one side yet holds its balance with quiet certainty — rooted, resilient, and slightly defiant. Observed slowly and drawn in fine black ink, the work explores tension and poise: a moment of weight without collapse. There is something poetic in its stance beside one of Birmingham’s most distinguished cultural buildings.
At A4 the composition feels intimate and considered, the size inviting closer viewing and allowing the fine linework and subtle tonal shifts to be appreciated in detail. This framed edition is mounted with a soft light grey border and set within a simple light wood frame — a restrained, contemporary finish that enhances the contrast of the ink. Glazed and ready to hang straight from the box.
Printed on 308gsm Hahnemühle Photo Rag (100% cotton) using archival pigment inks, from a limited edition of 100 — signed, titled, and hand-numbered by the artist.
