Barber Institute Tree is a limited edition A5 giclée print created from an original ink drawing of a tree standing beside the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, Birmingham, by Birmingham artist Warren Garland (Warren Drawing Trees).
The Barber Institute is one of the first purpose-built arts venues in the country, its 1930s Travertine marble architecture carrying a particular weight and elegance. The tree leans heavily to one side yet holds its balance with quiet certainty — rooted, resilient, and slightly defiant. Observed slowly and drawn in fine black ink, the work explores tension and poise: a moment of weight without collapse. There is something poetic in its stance beside one of Birmingham’s most distinguished cultural buildings.
