I regularly photograph trees as visual notes for future drawings, but occasionally an image has a presence of its own and finds its way into another part of my practice.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eStanding alone in the open landscape of Hackney Marshes, the tree caught my attention for its simple, rounded form and quiet isolation. Through the cyanotype process, the original photograph is reduced to soft Prussian blue tones, giving the tree an almost drawn quality.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eEach cyanotype is individually hand-coated, exposed using a UV light source and carefully developed by hand.
